Overview

The Department of Organ Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care, is catering to high quality perioperative care for patients that have been admitted for solid organ transplant (Liver, Kidney, Pancreas etc.) along with other Hepatobiliary, Gastro-intestinal and Urologic surgeries.

The operating room and intensive care team consists of anesthesiologists, intensivists, OT technicians and nursing care providers who are qualified and trained from premier institutes of India.

Furthermore, the faculty at the department has vast experience in providing the most efficient care to organ transplant patients. As for academics, the department offers DM in Organ Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care. MGUMST is the second institute in India offering this programme after MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology. The course extends over a duration of three years offering admission to two exclusive seats.

During the course tenure, DM students in the field of Organ Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care are granted the opportunity to work in various areas such as kidney and liver transplant operating theatres, intensive care units, endoscopy units etc.

At the institute, the faculty is currently performing

40-50 kidney 5-6 liver

transplants each month.
