Overview

Microbiology

Microbiology lab have fully developed section, of Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, ICTC centre, Clinical Microbiology Lab, Mycology Lab and the newer Molecular Diagnostic labs of advance Research & Virology.

The Department runs the laboratories 24 x 7 for maximum sample testing and their timely reporting. This Laboratory is doing Serology of Infectious diseases by Chorus Automated ELISA Machine and Vitros ECI Machine. In the bacteriology Section, we have facility for Automated Vitek II system for bacterial identification and sensitivity testing, Biosafety Cabinet Type – 2A and Automated Blood Culture system.

Molecular Diagnotic Lab

Mahatma Gandhi Hospital is the first private ICMR & NABL approved Molecular & RT –PCR Lab for the COVID-19 Testing in Rajasthan.

Our Genetic Diagnostic Lab also provide the following services for patients:
Endocrinology
  • First trimester scan at 11-13 weeks of pregnancy
  • Screening of chromosomal disorders in fetus
  • Prenatal invasive testing chorionic villous sampling and amniocentesis for confirmation of chromosomal disorder in fetus
  • Prenatal testing for genetic disorders in family like Thalassemia major, Spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne muscular Dystrophy etc.
  • Anomaly scan at 16-20 weeks of pregnancy with fetal ECHO facility in collaboration with cardiology department.
  • Fetal autopsy services for ultrasonographically detected malformed fetuses for exact diagnosis and risk of recurrence of the disorder in the concerned family.

Biochemistry

Central Biochemistry lab equipped with latest instruments & analyzers including VITROS 5600 (Dry Chemistry, Wet Chemistry & CLIA Analyser), ADVIA Centaur (CLIA analyzer), VIDAS NSH (ELFA, analyzer ). The lab runs round the clock where more than 600 investigations are processed daily. The major investigations include routine blood chemistry, hormones, tumor markers, heart specific enzymes etc.

Pathology
The pathology department provides all the investigations to the OPD & IPD patients of the hospital. It is equipped with modern haematology analyzers, urine analyzers and has the facilities for coagulation studies. The laboratory runs round the clock & provides emergency service.

CT Scan

The department has state of art 128 multislice CT scan first in the state.

MRI

The department has 1.5 Tesla MRI system to conduct of MR different body parts including angiograms and MRS.

X-ray Facilities
  • The department has following ultra modern equipments for most efficient patient care.
  • Six fixed units of X-ray ranging from 300 mA to 800 mA with fluoroscopy and Imaging intensifier facilities. Six mobile units of 100 mA to provide facilities of X-ray bedside in emergency and various wards for sick patients.
  • Two CR systems to meet the patients load and to provide quality x-rays. The department is also providing facilities of old types of routine x-rays and special investigations like barium studies IVP, HSG, MCU, RGU, etc.

Labs

Biochemistry Students Practical lab with accommodations of 250 students. We have well equipped Biochemistry lab. A spacious Biochemistry laboratory in the college for students premises caters to undergraduate academic requirements.

Biochemistry lab is well equipped with the instruments, working table well arranged with all the chemicals & reagents are properly arranged in the rack. A proper gas supply system is also available in laboratory.

The Department has a well ventilated dissection theatre, with all facilities to dissect Human cadavers not only for UG students but also PG students. The Department has cold storage facility in order to preserve the human cadaver in Emergency cases. Histology practical laboratory has good Infrastructure with research lab to process the tissues to cater the needs of the students.

The department of physiology has a well equipped and furnished Haematology, Human / Clinical, Amphibian and Mammalian laboratories for effective demonstrations and undergraduate teaching – learning program. We have well equipped Physiology labs as prescribed by MCI for MBBS course.

Physiology

Department of pathology has modern histopathology, cytopathology, haematology and service laboratories for catering the needs of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital attached to the medical college. The pathology department provides all the investigations to the OPD & IPD patients of the hospital. It is equipped with modern haematology analyzers, urine analyzers and has the facilities for coagulation studies.

The laboratory runs round the clock & provides emergency service. The pathology department also proudly owns an ultra-modern blood bank with modern technology and equipped with blood component facilities. 24 hour services are available in the blood bank .We have the latest and highly sophisticated equipment’s for pathology laboratory.

Pathology

Department of Microbiology have well established practical laboratory of 250 students accomodoation for undergraduates. Mahatma Gandhi Hospital has a service laboratory catering to the diagnostic investigations in bacteriology, serology, Parasitology, Mycology, Virology and Immunology for the inpatients and outpatients.

Department is involved in Hospital Infection Control programmes and antibiotic policy. National health programmes like ICTC and RNTCP are also attached to this department. Department has been actively participating in External Quality Assurance programme as well.

Microbiology

This department is also equipped with Statistical, epidemiological and Health Education (IEC) Cell with facilities for internet, computer, printer, data analysis, preparation of IEC material. There is also provision for a spacious public health laboratory, with working tables for students, equipped with glassware, instruments, microscopes- dissecting & oil immersion, facilities for entomology and staining of specimen; prepared microscopic slides on microbiology, parasitology of public health importance. Apart from academic activities, the Community Medicine department is engaged in providing preventive, promotive and curative services to urban and rural population. There is Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) Vatika which is a Rural field practice area of the Department for providing comprehensive health care (OPD and IPD) to rural community, training UG/PG students and interns.

Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) situated at Pratap Nagar, Sanganer catering for primary health care to underserved/ needy slum population and used as field practice area for UG/PG, interns etc. Besides the various Teaching, Research and Community activities, the Department of Community Medicine is also involved in other activities like: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) of Dept of Women and Child Welfare, Govt. of India), Immunization, DOTS for tuberculosis, Janani Shishu SuraksaYojna, etc. Practical includes field visits to a number of centres carrying out activities which have direct bearing on prevention of diseases like Malaria, tuberculosis, fluorosis etc. Laboratory and museum setting are used to discuss environment, Nutrition, entomology etc.

Community Medicine

The department has a well equipped Labour room, Obstetrics ICU, Eclampsia Labour Room and a Septic Labour Room. Apart from routine surgeries, Specialty Clinics like Infertility, Cancer Screening, High risk pregnancy, Screening for HIV in Pregnancy various other clinics are available.
