The department also caters to candidates of Ph D (Medical) Biochemistry program. It provides vast
interdisciplinary knowledge as it has several branches and links other medical departments. Knowledge of
Biochemistry is required for designing and manufacture many chemicals and biological products, for clinical
diagnosis of the disease, for nutrition, treatment etc. Diseases are ultimately the result of an imbalance
of cellular function, mutations of our DNA, altered gene expression and external stimuli.
Biochemistry Department is concerned with performing various tests using a wide array of analytical
procedures and generating results that provide additional information and helps in clinical diagnosis and
treatment follow up. The UG Practical Lab is spacious and well designed to perform basic biochemical tests
as per syllabi of various courses.
The Clinical and Research lab of the department are well equipped with latest and most advanced equipment
including dry and wet chemistry analyzer, ELISA and CLIA based analyzer and Chromatography and
Electrophoresis instruments etc.
